Fall 2014

To play…an interesting phrase, but I’m not going to go into that technical stuff. For the most part, play is engaging in some form of activity, like a game, pastime, or any other thing college students do at 2 am on a Saturday night…but I digress. We as designers always look for a way to engage someone in our work. Maybe we do so by doing something unique with ceilings or getting just the right perspective, turning that standard drawing into something sexy. It’s the little things we do that make the difference. Who cares if other people don’t exactly “get” what we do… I mean, they are the ones that end up buying the things we design, so let’s give them the benefit of the doubt… Even if they don’t understand, we still like them, right? Thus, it is our job to make something enjoyable for them, like cool arches and glass panels and awesome renderings. We engage them in our process so that they can feel a part of the experience. What it means to be a designer. What it means to think about things slightly different… and with less sleep than most. We are producers of the future. We are here to encompass the body and mind in all that we do. We’re here to play.
